Selected engagements since 2016.

Daintree was founded in Redmond in 2016. The work started in wireless research and cloud platforms, grew into trade compliance engineering, and has returned to satellite network research.

2016 – 2017

National Science Foundation research program, with a public research university. Daintree was a funded research subrecipient.

Wide-area spectrum monitoring

A spectrum observatory had to run unattended across a metro area. Sensor stations capture radio spectrum data and upload it to the cloud, where it is processed, aggregated, and published to a portal for researchers.

  • Reach of the scanScan bandwidth and capture duration were extended.
  • RecoveryStations come back after power and network loss without someone standing next to them.
  • AccessRaw data is gated, not left open on the platform.
  • What we left behindStation deployment manuals and operating manuals.
  • Azure
  • Data pipelines
  • RF sensor integration
  • Field deployment

2017

A global software company.

Open-sourcing a TV white spaces platform

A cloud-based TV white spaces spectrum database had to be prepared for a public release on GitHub. That meant more than publishing a repository.

  • The repositoryRestructured, with code and dependencies cleaned to meet the company's open-source licensing requirements.
  • The cloudCloud libraries upgraded, then the service redeployed to Azure.
  • After launchThe public repository was moderated, and contributors were supported.

2025 – 2026

Cross-border trade programs for a global enterprise.

Global trade compliance engineering

Engineers and end-to-end delivery for systems that keep goods moving lawfully across borders. The work covers import and export regulations, product classification, and customs filing.

  • Launches on a fixed dateRegulatory features shipped against government deadlines.
  • DocumentsCustoms and tax document integrations, and a trade document system of record with audit and reporting.
  • ClassificationA rules engine based on HS codes.
  • After go-liveOn-call duty, stability work, and production support for the platforms already running.

  • Product classification
  • Customs integrations

2026 – present

University research program, with a public research university. Funded by university research grants.

Digital twin for satellite network observations

Sensors on a university rooftop observe a low-Earth-orbit satellite network, and their data streams in close to real time. We are building the digital twin behind them: the backend that processes and stores the observations, the models, and the dashboards researchers use.

  • Ingest and storageA backend that takes the sensor streams as they arrive and keeps them ready for analysis.
  • ModelingModels of the network, built from what the sensors actually observe.
  • Metrics and dashboardsViews that let researchers follow how the network behaves over time.
  • Where it comes fromIt builds directly on the spectrum observatory and TV white spaces work from 2016 and 2017.
